About
I'm figuring this out alongside you.
I'm Brandon. I live in Oklahoma City. I write, I make photographs, and I produce theatre. For most of the past few years I have been collecting questions — the kind you can't put down once you've picked them up, the kind that don't resolve neatly at the end of a thirty-minute episode.
This show is what came of that.
Most podcasts give you answers. I wanted to make something that started with the questions instead — and then actually sat with them. Each month is a chapter. Each chapter is a theme: work, connection, change, memory, fear, wonder. Each chapter is explored four ways — a solo deep dive built on research, a conversation with someone whose story intersects the theme, an on-location walk asking strangers what they think, and a grab bag to round it out.
What I can promise is this: I'll do the homework. I'll bring real people into every episode — guests, neighbors, strangers, myself. I won't pretend to have answers I don't have. The uncertainty is part of the show, not a thing to edit out.
If any of that sounds like a conversation you want to be in, I'd love to have you along. You can find me at brandon@fieldnotesonbeingalive.com. I read everything.
